KILKENNY/WEXFORD SERVICES
The Kilkenny/Wexford Services have developed from the takeover of two services – one in Ballytobin Co. Kilkenny the other in Duffcarrig, Co. Wexford.
Ballytobin Services

The BOCSISER took over the management of the Ballytobin Services in September 2018. Ballytobin is located in a rural setting in Co. Kilkenny. The Services comprises of four houses and three apartments altogether. Three houses and two apartments are located on the main Ballytobin grounds, with one further house and apartment located approximately 1 km from the main grounds of Ballytobin.
Ballytobin services provide 24-hour, 7-day residential services for 52 weeks for adults.
The service is designed to meet a range of needs, including social needs, high medical needs and behavioural challenges.
Regular support is available from a multi-disciplinary team.
A range of activities are available on the main grounds of Ballytobin.
The grounds have a sensory garden, a poultry run and a poly-tunnel.
There are well maintained walkways, suitable for cycling and walking.
Staff qualifications and skill mix varies in each home, depending on the needs of individual residents living in each house.
The cohort of staff includes support workers, social care workers, social care leaders and staff nurses.
The majority of the residents attend a day service within the grounds of Ballytobin Services, called “The Hub”, whilst another individual avails of an individualised day service, known as “The Den”, within Ballytobin Services. In 2021 a new day service was opened in Glenview, Carrick on Suir.
These day services work within the framework and guidance of New Directions promoting individualised activity schedules which encourage participation within the wider community engaging in activities, such as horse riding, swimming, work experience, Men’s Shed, outdoor pursuits within their community and continued education for some.
All residents are proactively encouraged to participate in the local community and are therefore provided with opportunities to utilise all services within their community. Some residents avail of day services provided by another Provider and support is provided to enable them to do so.
Duffcarrig Services

The BOCSISER took over the management of the Duffcarrig Services in September 2021. Duffcarrig is located in the rural-urban hinterland around Gorey. Those who visit Duffcarrig often comment on the wonderful sense of peace created by the beautiful environment. There are 6 houses on the Duffcarrig grounds providing 24 hours, 7 day residential services for adults with a wide range of support needs.
As with other services within the BOCSISER staff qualifications and skill mix varies in each of the houses to reflect the support needs of the residents living in each house. All residents are proactively encouraged to participate in the local community and access services in the community where possible.
